The Student Support Services (SSS) team works with families, schools and preschools to assist them to support the strengths, opportunities and additional needs of learners. This service is time-limited and based on identified and agreed upon goals, recorded in a service plan. The nature and level of support is tailored to each family, student and site’s needs and includes young people with developmental, cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, learning and physical difficulties, and exceptional needs ( including giftedness) and their families.
The Social Worker – Truancy is a member of a multi-disciplinary team and works with children, young people and their families in relation to students with truancy, attendance, engagement and retention issues. The Social Worker AHP1/2 works with preschools and school staff, and parents using evidence-based interventions that include proactive, targeted and intensive strategies that can be adapted for learning and home contexts. This position works with the professional support of the Senior Social Worker.
AHP1 and AHP2
Essential: An appropriate degree or equivalent which provides eligibility for full membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers.

The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

AHP1: $65,487 -$79,942 per annum
AHP2: $84,399 – $97,774 per annum

These positions will service the education regions of Whyalla, Port Augusta, and Far North, and are based within the Port Augusta and Whyalla Education Offices. We are seeking experienced or early-career social workers who are motivated, enthusiastic, and innovative; and who work well in both independent and collaborative environments.
Financial assistance can be negotiated for successful applicants who relocate to Port Augusta or Whyalla.
Role is available at either AHP1 or AHP2. This role may be filled at either classification level (to be determined by the skills, knowledge and experience of individual applicants, and the level of responsibility relevant to the position).
